Integrated fridge door removal

Any clues as to how to remove the door from an integrated Tricity Bendix fridge (about 18 years old) - can't for the life of me figure it out!

Guest, if there are absolutely no "visable" fixings or brackets on show when you open the door, then you may find the fixing screws behind the flexible seal of the appliance door.
Some of the early integrated fridges/freezers were done like this.
Just ease back the seal and look for the screw heads and hopefully this will allow you to remove the furniture door.

Nowadays, there are generally 2 standardised ways of connecting the appliance door to the furniture door. The first is the SETMO system, where the door is fixed directly to the appliance by the use of some kind of brackets, and the second is the SLIDER type where the furniture door is hung on the cabinet by means of seperate hinges and a plastic slider rail that links the 2 doors together and allows the furniture door to slide in front of the fridge door.

There aren't any screw heads hidden under the seal. There appears to be brackets that fix the wooden door directly onto the fridge door but cannot see how you might get to them...??

Guest, if you can see the brackets but not the screws that hold them in place then they must be covered by a white plastic cover. As i said earlier, it sounds to me as if the system for attaching the 2 doors together is the SETMO. At the top of the door there is probably a long white clip-on cover approx. 300mm long. This normally un-clips, and exposes the fixings on the top of the fridge door. Then there will normally be other fixings either on the bottom of the door or lower down on the sides of the door.

What is the Model number of the fridge that you have?

well 18 years ago the popular way was brackets fixed to the door with large head bolt that fitted into a slot on the bracket and was locked up from behind the seal inside the fridge door.. this would be a straight slot screwdriver also ( small ) there would be 2 holes close together about 150mm from top and bottom on both sides of door .. right pain to fit and get off.. especially if the screws have rusted over the years.
Snezza the top hang on bracket that you suggest wasn't around 18 years ago as far as I am aware .. unless top range stuff like siemens and those .

Phill, back in the early 90,s, I was mainly fitting De Deitrich and Siemens appliances. They did indeed have the Setmo system.

I tried to explain to the OP that the fixing screws may be behind the door seal, but he said that there wasnt any!!!

Still, he must have sorted it as he hasnt been back!

Aye they did have that system , but most of the cheaper end had those awful u shaped brackets .
looks like he must have .. still say a big hammer works .. lol
