The Makita plunge saw blade will cut the painted gloss without micro chipping. But only for the first 4/5 cuts.

That kitchen looks really nice. I'll agree with you guys that these j profile handle less kitchens are becoming popular. I have just sold a kithen similar to this, due for fitting in mid Jan, ill post up photos of the design in the mornin. It's a Nova in Oyster from crown ( who btw do curved 900 doors )

Easyiest way to miter them is straight cut them then use router table with chamfer bit in. The cut will be bloody razor sharp though

This was the one I just mitred.

Couple of trestles set up with 2 layers of 40mm lam WT laying on top, this was a 300mm door so screwed it to the WT to make sure it didn't move. Quick test cut down the middle face up to see if it chipped. None whatsoever. So made both mitres face up with a TS55.

Mitre bonded together and it looked perfect all the way up the body execpt for a hairline gap at the'J' handle joint. I put this down to the door being slightly bowed here which given its thickness at this point is to be expected. I really do mean hairline and it could have been left but I washed a bit of decorators caulk in for good measure. I might have been tempted to use colourfil if I had any in white but the gap was so tiny it really didn't matter as even if the dec caulk dis-colours you'll never see it being so tiny.

Yep, it certainly looks like its worth mitering them. The finish looks much better.

I tried a 45 degree cut on a scrap section of door at the weekend but got a fair amount of chipping with my TS75. I think the blade could do to be changed!
Which blade did you use CR? How many tooth blade? Did you cut into the sacrificial worktop?

Not sure on the blade, unbranded 48T... got it a few weeks back and if i'm honest I wasn't overly impressed with it as the first cuts I did where on some decor panels for a painted PWS milton oak kitchen and I saw chipping on those so but on these there was nothing at all, not even a hint of microchipping. The WT were off cuts from the job and I did cut in to them by 2 or 3 mm. The worktops were upside down so was only cutting in to the paper face. They were upside down not for any reason other than saving the blade a little.

I know gut instinct is to cut the panel face down but I thought i'd try a quick test cut face up and no problems so just carried on. It was easier as it meant of course the guide rail sits on the piece you are cutting rather than having to rest it on another door/something else.

Did you try it face up? or just face down?


... just had a look at the blade and the only markings are WCS1602048. Goggle search shows up http://www.amazon.co.uk/Serracon-WCS1602...B004NZU26K but I got it from local tool shop and mine doesn't have the 'Dart' logo... might be the same might not??

Just a tip for using the TS55/75 (or any other tracksaw I suppose) to cut mitres - don't cut the mitre straight off. Clamp the rail to the door/worktop (or whatever else you're mitreing) & cut it at 90 degrees. Then set the saw to 45 & re-cut along the same line.

Trying to cut the mitre straight off usually results in pinching the blade slightly which spoils the cut.

That's how I've had the best results, anyhow.

Those doors look like a vinyl or foil wrap?

I can't say for sure about the doors in Colour Republic's photo's, although they look the same as mine but in white.

The doors in my photos are definately Hi Gloss Polyester Spray finish.
The paint coating is HARD and as you have heard, can be difficult to cut as they will chip if not treated right.

The doors are lacquered, I've not seen a foil handless j handle yet
