Granite Sink Cut Wrong?

Blimey I’ve never heard of cutting under mount sinks by hand on site 

I find it odd as well Daniel,....but I believe Stretch & Claydon Lad use a company that do all the fabrication on site including the cut outs for undermount sinks.

The mess would concern me, & my Clints I would have thought!

Oh yes, they left a mess in the driveway alright! ...not to mention a film of dust throughout the house. My wife's old Gramps was a building site foreman and always said "first check the dashboard in the workman's van, it is a true indicator of their workmanship" ...We will def be applying that rule from now on!

Tidiness ...it was basically covered in rubbish, sandwich boxes and the like ...there was probably a cowboy hat and spurs in amongst it all!

Not any more mate. They template and fabricate off site with CNC machinery now.

Same firm, different methods.

I've never seen the clamps and screws used on a quartz or granite worktop.
My granite suppliers take a 50% deposit before templates and the Balance on completion and satisfaction, so they would not have been paid for a job like that

So are you saying they do not use any type of clamp then and rely on a timber frame or something?

Yes, I normally put a frame for the sink to sit on.
In solid surface Tops, I use the fixings but have never seen them used in quartz. 
Anyone else?

Off subject slightly but my stone fabricator only uses adhesives to attach under mount sinks to quartz tops.

I have on many occasions expressed my concerns but the owner of the company continually assures me the adhesives they use are plenty strong enough and that clips or framework are simply not required.   In fact on one job they asked us to remove the framework we had created.

My fabricator obviously guarantees his work and in 6 years I have not had one fail.
