Hi guys,
So me and other half have been working on what we can with old knackered kitchen in 1904 mid terrace house in Hull since October and the MR has done a lot. We've got most first fixing done e.g. power points, extracter fan wired up, new radiator, better insulation of single brick alcove, but will need to swap the plumbing for the sink and dishwasher to be with the electric oven cabling once the old carcasses come out, as swapping locations of these items, which will be when IKEA kitchen arrives and when we have chosen a fitter!
Time is of the essence now as we are to have a baby in April and the kitchen is causing stress but that doesn't been I want a bodge job as have waited to do this room for 8 years now living with no cupboards for food as cupboards all damp from cold air coming up behind due to missing floor board, which we could never access to fix as would require new kitchen, which we could not afford.
Now we realise we have to do this before child arrives or will never get done! lol
I've looked at a few suppliers and got a quote for a kitchen from Wickes at 6.1k which is laughable as we are looking at 3k max with all appliances and interest free finance. I priced up an IKEA kitchen a couple of years ago at 1.5k without appliances but our cooker has since rusted away due to the damp air in room so we need new oven, hob and I want a dishwasher. Oh, my parents have an ikea kitchen and are happy with it and I know a few who have one who love theirs.
I've also looked at MTM in Hull but really would rather have Ikea as like the modular system and accessories that fit and don't mind about the deeper units as the new Metod range has access for services now apparently anyway but as plumbing needs budging along the wall, we can hopefully be tidyer with pipes anyway.
So, does anyone have experience of fitting Ikea and ideally since new Metod style came out at the end of last year? I know it's flatpacked but we can rip out old kitchen and take off existing tile splashback and prepare room as much as poss. Just could do with someone who can get plumbing and electrics moved too ideally. Plug points are fine.
Room dimensions are 3m x 2.8m roughly with a small alcove bolted on, which will house washer and dryed in stack. It's a fairly small kitchen thus.
I'll upload some pic's or where we are now with it and plans I have from Ikea site.

P.s you will note the uneven ceiling! This was from before we moved in! Angles are not plumb or straight, nor is floor.
