Last True Handless of 2021.

I thought I'd get things rolling again now the Forum has reopened.....

I finished this one just before Xmas 2021.
Doors were all made from Egger board and were Matt White Perfect Sense and textured Grey on the tall cabinets.

I made all the cabinets and doors on this kitchen and fabricated the Hanex Matt white solid surface worktops myself. The biggest challenge was making the mitered external corners on the island.
I also built the false walls around the tall bank of units and the bulkhead above the island.
All the appliances were Neff and were supplied by the Client (it took months for all the appliances to be delivered..!!)
Sink was also supplied by the client, as was the Quooker tap.

Base cabinet height was 780mm with 100mm Stainless Steel plinths.

All the drawers were Blum Legrabox and were all 650mm deep on the Island and Sink run.

Dishwasher door took some working out as well....!!!

Even if there was a "but" I wouldn't dare to include it here...

The fact that you have manufactured this kitchen yourself and even bothered to make the dishwasher drawerline is exceptional.

Well done mate, you are a shining light in this industry, and I actually do mean that.   Top work.

It was a lot of work but satisfying at the same time.

The Client was a director of a large building company and has since recommended me to another builder that is building a new home for himself.......Potentially,  it could be the largest individual kitchen & utility room project I will have ever done.

And I was starting to think about slowing down...!!

Wow, that's a really fantastic job you've done. Really interesting for me to see too, as I've tried to make kitchens in the same way, though I never dared to mitre the perfect sense so am impressed with that, and the drawerline dishwasher and bin too. How did you do those? I know PWS do a dishwasher frame for these, but it's for 720 carcases so assume it wouldn't work here. Did you make it up yourself? Great to use the 650 deep drawers too.

As I said,...Mitering those panels was the most tricky part of the process.
Basically, I cut all the panels to size and edged them with the 1mm edging and applied a radius to 3 of the 4 edges.
Then, on the panels that needed to be cut at 45 degrees, i cut them at 45 degrees dead length...this leaves the 1mm of edging intact
Once the mitered panels are joined together, the radius is then applied to the jointed corner.

The D/W frame I did make myself....I did look at the off the shelf frames that I could find but none of them really suited my needs coz of the 780mm high cabinets + all the ones I could find would not match the shape of the Handless extrusions.

I had difficulty getting those 650mm deep drawer box sides & runners....They were a minimum quantity order.
I did make the bases for the drawers as well in the matching graphite board which is 16mm thick.

Looks amazing Tim, as always. Can I ask how you’ve done the DW door? When I’ve done this in the past I’ve had to make the side prices thicker so the material spans over the extrusion joining the 2 panels together. Yours look like they’re in 2 pieces. Cheers.

I remember seeing how you did it mate in your wife's Studio...... but I had to find a method of doing it that was no deeper than the depth of the extrusion. 
The way I did the Bin Unit was similar to the way you did yours.

The Client ordered a non sliding door D/W, so it did add to the difficulty.

Hadn't occurred to me to edge the panels before mitring them, but that makes total sense. Still, not an easy thing to do at all, but looks like you've got it spot on. 
LDL make up Legrabox for you in those lengths (any length from 270mm to 650mm) which also means no need to cut and rebate the bases etc. Saves a lot of hassle and I don't think it costs really any more than buying all the parts.
