This is the Utility Room of a big kitchen job that I have been doing.

It was a Self - Build project and the fit actually started last summer but the client kept adding on extras and he is now finally about to move in and has very recently cleaned everything down, so I finally managed to take a few pictures. The kitchen pictures will follow in a couple of weeks when he gets the TV mounted on the large Red panel that I mounted on the wall.

Even though i say so myself, this kitchen and Utility looked stunning when I went over on Wednesday evening.

The kitchen itself is Gloss Black & Gloss Red, so the Utility Room is following a similar colour scheme.

The overheight cabinets are by Stormer, Granite is Absoloute Black, Sink & Tap are by Blanco.
There are overdepth worktops in here as well to allow for Stowaway doors to cover the freestanding Washing Machine & Tumble Drier.

Love this! I'm about to redo our kitchen so joined up here to find a bit of inspiration, really like the contrast on here between the white/black/red very stunning!

Just an update on this job as I was asked to go back and do some additional work there today.

This is the TV unit that I built more then 3 years ago, and it's now got all the Audio system fitted in the 2 drawers.....Bose..! Quality sound....

One of the reasons I was asked to go back, ....the Client wants me to design, make and fit 4 or 5 shallow depth floating cubic display cabinets to fit In this alcove.
He wants them made from either solid Walnut or possibly MDF Veneered Walnut with Matt White sliding doors......a bit of a different challenge to a kitchen. 

   

   

The idea of the Walnut is to reflect the colour of the Walnut floor you can see in the pictures.

Like the red media units Snezza .... we have been doing a few of these recently and I have decided to start including vents/grills in the units to allow the hot air to dispel from the AV equipment which I have found gets really hot.  I had to replace some lacquered doors on a media unit we did a few years back because the AV got so hot the doors warped !! ... and we are not talking about anything special either, just virgin box, dvd player etc...

Just a heads up just in case you hadnt thought of it.

When I originally fitted what you see in the pictures above about 3 years ago, the Client was still in the middle of the house build, so there was no AV equipment fitted at that time. He had a specialist company do all the AV installation/cabling throughout the house. One of the reasons he asked me to go back yesterday was to remove the 2 drawer boxes in those 2 units as he had found that there wasnt enough play on all the cables to allow the drawers free movement when opened & closed. So, i removed the drawer boxes and hinged the fronts so they drop down flat....This allows access to all the boxes inside the 2 cabinets.

There are no backs to these cabinets so there is a 50mm open gap at the back/bottom which is only visible if you are laying on your back on the ground or when you open either of the drawer fronts. Obviously, I know hot air rises but it wasnt very warm inside the cabinet yesterday.....I will mention the ventilation requirement to the AV guy as I have his number, but he only finally finished installing all the equipment about 3 weeks ago and never mentioned anything to the Client about lack of adequate ventilation...???!!!

That 50mm gap should be sufficient I would presume ... I think you just need to try and avoid big build up of hot air really.

I've also removed drawers in the past to get AV wires to work properly    ..... always learning !
