Custom Colour German Shaker kitchen.

I finished this one in September last year but I have only received these "After" pictures from the Client today.

The job involved removal of existing kitchen, new ceiling with LED spotlights, new tubular tall radiator in Textured Anthracite finish, custom made open shelf units at the dining room end that I made myself in my workshop, Duropal laminate worktops with PP edges that i fabricated myself with matching laminate upstands, Franke sink, Siemens Ovens, Warming Drawers,Hob, Hood, Dishwasher.

Floating shelves are all 25mm thick x 200mm deep with 100mm x 14mm pin concealed fixings.

There is also a Utility Room with matching cabinets.

Flooring is Karndean.

Base units are 780mm high with 100mm plinths and Wall units are 910mm high.

The colour of the glass splashback behind the Hob & the colour of the walls near the TV & alcove were the Clints choice,....not mine!......

The first picture below shows the Oven & Combi + the 2 warming drawers...that did'nt line up, so I inserted the Black Lustrolite filler at the bottom on the RHS.....
Thankfully, you can barely notice it...

   

   

   

   

The colour of the doors was a custom colour (RAL 7044)

Looks good. Do you find you do alot of Midi height units? I've only designed one kitchen so far with them. I know what you mean regarding the splasback - you're eye goes straight to it!

On my initial design/layout of this kitchen, I drew it up with tall units where the 3 Midi height units are, but both the Client & I felt it closed the room down too much.

I have a very similar display set up in the Showroom with 3 Midi units & floating shelves as you see above, so the client opted for that instead and it does make the room feel more airy if that makes sense...? The angled unit is a pull out with angled wire baskets.

Obviously, there are ventilation grills mounted in the back of the 25mm top above the Ovens to allow a flow of air.

I was going to make a joke about recognising that dog before I got to the lustrolite comment and realise it's the same job as you posted about ages ago!

Like the different coloured plinths and the tops on the midi units and the bespoke units.

Interesting Clints about using the midi units to make it more airy - I think they've definitely done that, and like how you've brought the angled studio unit in - very nice

Did the domino get a workout on those units you made!?

.......It's about as traditional as any of them get for me PJ,  ....having said that, I have quoted for a job last week that is a painted wood Shaker door, solid oak worktops, Edinburgh (Belfast) ceramic sink, traditional bridge mixer tap, and Travertine floor tiles.
It is British though,...not German!

I suppose my choice of the word "Shaker" is a bit misleading when you think about a traditional Shaker style door.

This door is a one piece door with a double rout to the centre panel. It's available in about 12 standard matt lacquered colours as well as any custom colour but at an extra set price per kitchen. I ALWAYS order and have to pay for an actual full size sample door and get it sent over though coz it's really difficult to picture what the door may look like from a small RAL colour sample swatch. It obviously adds to the lead time of the job,, but to my mind, it's definitely worth it. The cost of the sample door is refundable when and if the kitchen ends up getting ordered.

I did use the Domino on those open shelf units, but mainly for alignment purposes. The basic cabinets are screwed & dominoed and the shelves are all adjustable via multi shelf holes that I drilled in the cabinet sides.

I’ve been waiting for about 3 years now to justify a domino! With the work I do I would never use it. I have a biscuit jointer and I can’t remember the last time that came out. Still want and feel a need for one but I must be getting more sensible in my old age.
