Hi All!

I've just been fishing around the internet in the hope of trying to find a review on a the cordless Festool TSC 55 which I'm thinking of buying (my regular corded version doesn't get as much use as it should as im too lazy to get the transformer out the van half the time so im considering the battery equivalent). Although theres a few reviews about there doesn't seem to be any directly from kitchen fitters which is what I'm after really!. In the hope of trying to find one I've stumbled across this site/forum which seems like the ideal place not only to pick the brains of the users regarding the tool but also to natter and discuss a hundred and one other things that sometimes pop in to my head on fits. 

So I guess this is my intro...

Search the forum, some love it, some are not convinced.  Transformers are alien to me, I'd stick pins in my eyes before I went on a site. I have a 240v TS and love it.

I haven't stepped foot on a site for 2 years but when I came to buy my festool last year I opted for the 110v version as my router is 110v too, it drives me mad getting a heavy old transformer out of the van and having it buzzing away in the corner of a room

welcome to the forum mate great bunch on here, I just got my festool ts55 240v the other day and its amazing piece of kit, maybe sell it all and go for the 240v.

I've got a TSC and love it. I also own a 240v version that is collecting dust in the garage as it never gets any use. 

There is very little power difference and the dust collection is ok. No brilliant just ok. It cuts laminate tops perfectly and with the right blade cuts solid wood tops just as well. 

You will need 2 sets of batteries though which can be expensive. I think if you bought one now you would get the airstream batteries that charge quicker but I still think another set would work better. 

All round thumbs up for the TSC from me.

To my shame, I bought my TSC back in February as I was doing a lot of fits in new build properties back then. I only own a couple of 110v tools and my tracksaws aren't one of them. Since getting it, I haven't needed a cordless version......and it has never cut a single bit of wood....!!@!!!!

The majority of the time, I would already have my CT dust extractor set up anyway, so its easy enough just to use the 240v version.

One thing I have noticed though,the cordless model is heavier than the mains model which may come as a surprise to you.

The main reason I got the cordless version was hose snaggage on the rail. It really did my head in. I know there's the hose over the shoulder or forearm tricks you can do but that only seems to work when using a 27mm hose and I use a 36mm which is stiffer. 

Even if I have power and my CT set up right where I'm working I would always grab the cordless. 

I did use my corded version for a few days a few weeks ago though. The riving knife broke on the cordless which I wasn't pleased about at all!!

As I'm well aware the TSC isn't for everyone but it is for me.

The hose is a pain as you say PJ, but if I'm cutting a lot of panels in the customers kitchen the dust extractor really comes into its own. What % of dust does the cordless bag collect in comparison with the corded version & a CT?

I also use a 36mm Anti Static hose.
