I've had a couple of makita rail saws and they are not cheap rubbish.  Just as good as the festool imo.  OK with the festool you can save about a second adjusting the depth of the blade but that's about it. The finished cut is exactly the same as is the rail.  
   Sounds like u have a lot of the basic tools. Id suggest set square and a few pencils and ur good to go. Well at least for ur 2 week  trial.

My background is carpentry and tiling so yes have most of the every day kit, apart from jig  and rail cutter to name a couple..

The makita has a lot of play in it. Feels cheep. Track isn't as accurate. Motor power isn't as good.  Dust extraction isn't as good. The blade supplied isn't as good. Etc etc. 


The price diff I would rather the festool. 




You can buy the saw and and extractor for £613 on FFX. If you have money to burn buy that.
