breakfast bar with worktop return end panel

I have had a customer request a breakfast bar installing with the worktop continuing down as an end panel, i know this is possible but I have never done one before and wondering if anyone on here has done one before and can give me some advice as to fixing ect (its wood effect laminate worktop)

Assuming the pic you've attached is not the actual job you're doing I would say that anything like that done in laminate would look pants.

You won't be able to do a butt joint like that in laminate as the postformed edges won't marry up.

I would suggest that you persuade your customer to go with real wood worktops or solid surface instead.

I remember PJK posting some pictures of a set of laminate tops that he fitted and he had 45 degree mitered a worktop on a gable end down to the floor using his Festool rail saw. It was a couple of years back, but I'm sure his pictures will still be on here somewhere.

On the return down you will see what would've been the unfinished side of the worktop......I know some manufacturers do "gables" for this so needs to be considered......

I'm making a table for a friend, you can special order most matching laminates to a work surface. Takes about 3 weeks though, I'm still waiting.
