New drill help please

Evening gang, new to forum so introducing myself and looking for help, I have been using 14.4 volt makita lithium drills 2 of and angle drill, batteries and drills are slowly on the way out, Barnes at Burnley tell me 14 volt is being faced out, always thought 18volt would be to heavy to use, been recommended 10 volt 2ah metabo compact but I am concerned about swapping batteries every 10 mins, i prefer a mains hammer drill so drillscwould be drill/drivers, so I am looking for advice please, what's everyone else using?

I've never found a problem with the weight of 18v makita lithium's, they're no heavier than the old 14v nicads and youll be sure to have plenty of power

When I went to bosch 4amp I bought a pair of 1.3amp batt for the impact as I though it would be too much using them all day.

I dusted thwm off the other day, once the novelty passed I didn't use them.

I use the festool cxs for everything. It's ideal for fitting as its so small and the drill body lines up with your hand so you push in a straight line onto the screw. It's 10.8v and has no problem driving 100mm screws into stud work. The only thing I don't use it for is hole saws, as the 10 mm chuck is too small for my hole saw arbor. My other drill is the big metal chuck makita 18v lithium which I use for everything else, it's a brilliant drill but pretty massive.

I have only used my impact driver a handful of times since getting the cxs 18 months ago

Thanks fellas,, so I'm thinking off buying a dewalt 18 volt drill driver compact but its only 2ah batteries same with the metabo I was interested in, am I wasting my time because of the battery charge life, and yes I would love festool drill to go with my festool plunge ,but my own kitchen extension is draining my funds!!

2 Amps are fine for screw guns. As soon as you start drilling and hole sawing it will soon run them dry compared.

They wont suck but a bigger amp batt would be more advantageous imo

Go for the 5amps dewalt combo 18 volt set I'm very happy with mine it's add some bloody hammer the last few months.

I am currently using a new Dewalt DCD795 for heavy drilling, holesaws etc. I'm absolutly loving this drill at the moment i have the 4ah version. Then i have the classic Makita 10v set for fixing etc. The 10v impact gets used to studwork etc and copes with everything i throw at. My father has the new dewalt 10v set and prefers it to his 10v Makita set.

I will one day, once the makitas have died get the CSX for fitting and a 18v impact for when i need an impact.

Im using dewalt 4ah 18v and love it. I got the 985 for heavy drilling and 885 impact. They just cover everything I throw at them
