Hi I'm a new fitter old sparky

Hi all, I have just diversified myself as I fancied a change after sparkying for 25+ years, I am now an apprentice kitchen fitter

I'm looking for tips and advise and in return I can give tips and advice on electrics.

I have completed 2 kitchens so far, one was a small basic customer supplied and the second was a howdens supplied by me, I'm just finishing the howdens one.

Oh another reason I chose kitchen fitting, I love tools, kitchen fitters have the best tools, going to pick up a festool mitre saw this morning.

thanks for the welcome, still sparkying just fancy something else and of course i get the sparky work aswell.

another big one for me is that i deal direct with the customer for the electrics and not through the builder which never seems to work to well

ok after doing a bit of reading through the forum, you have a festool section

ive ordered the dust extractor and the 120, couldnt afford the stand at the moment

got my supplier from the forum N&B power tool supplies, told simon at the suppliers i got his company from the forum, hope this was ok

He's the antithesis of a tool tart and has an almost pathological dislike of all things Festool but he is a bit of a drum tart! He is however a sparks who became a kitchen fitter and is also "leader" of the motley crew that makes up KFF.

I think that just about sums me up!!

Yes Mark, I was like you and started my qualified life as a sparky in 1987. By 1999 I was completely pissed off with it and by chance I had the opportunity to fit the odd kitchen for a few family and friends and decided it would be a better career.

I didn't spunk all my dosh on expensive kit initially and just bought stuff that would get me by until I could afford to buy better.

Fortunately, I now own one of the best railsaws on the market, nay, the world, the Mafell KSP55 which pisses all over its Festool equivalent. If you buy the Festool one you'll live to regret it but having said that the rest of the stuff they do is pretty good even if it is a bit overpriced for what it is.

Just remember lads that if I hadn't made that decision in 1999 to become a kitchen fitter then this forum may never have existed and, without KFF, the only use I can possibly imagine for the internet is to download porn. So be thankful for that and think wisely before you mock me for not owning any Festool kit!
