Found another use for our orange friend yesterday....

Reducing a 2'6" doorway to a 2'3", with one side of the door lining fixed into the original brickwork what better way of securing the floating side??!

Very nice work Mr Stretch and something tells me that the floating side of that is now absolutely plumb in seconds - could of been done all sorts of ways.....but in moments...spot on plumb doubt it. Thanks mate, hope everyone starting to get the idea

Used my space plug samples today at last lol

I was putting a mopstick handrail up into my loft and the wall it was going onto was battened and insulated then boarded and skimmed. If I had put any forward planning into it I would have put sections of plywood behind the boards where the brackets go ,but hey ho I didn't . So this left me with a right pain trying to get a solid fixing. Scratched my head then remembered I had some space plugs. I drilled 3 x 6mm holes through the plasterboard into the wall and tapped in some rawlplugs. Then drilled a 30mm hole dead centre for the space plug . Pushed the space plug in and wound it out just a touch past the surface. Then fit 3 long screws into the wall and tighten carefully in turn until the bracket is solid against the space plug.

To be honest I didn't think this would work but it did and feels very solid.

Hi cliff, do you do a space plug that caters a base unit being pulled off the wall to cater for a wider 665 worktop? 
I suppose you get a bit more room to get your drill in to fix a bracket once you've spaced the 65mm gap with a strap cut from scrap material but, again, it's all time and faffing about at the end of the day.

I suppose you get a bit more room to get your drill in to fix a bracket once you've spaced the 65mm gap with a strap cut from scrap material but, again, it's all time and faffing about at the end of the day.

I think the XL space plugs go up to about 75mm if I remember. You shouldn't have a problem there.

I haven't tried them yet, no, I've struggled with the old method of drilling at an angle and wonky brakets! 
When you pull a unit 65mm off the wall you still have the pipe access gap of around 40 mm which leaves  a gap of 105mm. Take into account the 9mm panel plus 18 mm back rail and you're looking at needing a screw and drill bit of around 170mm min to give you enough grab into the wall, plus the plug would need to be larger in diameter for more stability. perhaps I've just answered my own question with all the problems I've just listed
