Thanks for uploading the pics though...we can see there's a bit of a "theme" running through your house but if that's what you want then that's good. Some very nice work you've posted there Ant, you could well pass yourself off as a pro if you're thinking of starting up....just don't tell all your customers you're a DIYer and they'll never know the difference! And to think you did these jobs without all the aid of any Festool stuff? You've saved yourself a fortune already! At least it means you can afford decent clothes for your kids instead of having to buy them off eBay...

Good work Ant
Which one did you like doing kitchen or bathroom? And if you do go down the Mafell road, ebay clothes will be a luxury. Mafell and charity shops go hand in hand
FESTOOL CHEAPER THAN mafell and Doesn't look like an Aldi special.

Thanks for the feedback!
I built the vanity unit from scratch, though obviously the granite top was bought in. It's funny you should mention having done all this without the aid of Festool - actually my 'toolbox' is generally quite limited regardless of manufacturer, and making paneled doors for example without the aid of any sophisticated tools has been a real labour. Making mortice & tenon joints for the frames was agonisingly slow using just a drill, router, hand saw and chop saw, and even then the end result was mostly innaucurate which meant a whole lot of fettling to get the rails and stiles to line up properly. Having just discovered the Festool Domino after having joined this forum has really opened my eyes in terms of knowing what difference a top quality power tool can make. As mentioned elsewhere, we're moving house soon and there will be a whole load more joinery for me to do, so perhaps this is a good excuse/reason to make the investment, even if I don't end up becoming a kitchen fitter! As far as what I prefer doing out of kitchen or bathroom, really I just enjoy doing everything practical around the house except gardening and decorating! |
