Stunning kitchen Snezza!
Do you have any experience to compare Lustrolite with glass? How does it wear long term? Which would you choose in your kitchen? Is there any difference between Lustrolite and any other off the shelf acrylic (Perspex)? I read on the Lustrolite website that they apply the colour to the back of the acrylic. I am curious how this compares to solid colour acrylic regarding maintenance and scratch visibility? Perhaps having the colour at the back gives the colour a different (better) appearance? You must have looked like a snowman just before Christmas routing the wall panels to size. Just right to get into the Christmas spirit. Allan

I cant be certain about how durable Lustrolite is as it is still a relatively new product in the UK, but from my experience of fitting it on my jobs so far, it seems quite resilient to scratching. I have quoted someone just before Xmas, to have some fitted as wall shower panels instead of Glass or Tiles. It would be interesting to see what the shower panels would look like a few months down the line. The previous colours that I've fitted have had a protective cover on the back and front, but the Titan Grey panels that I fitted on this kitchen only had the protective cover on the front. It wasn't a problem, but I made extra sure there were no bits of debris on my sacrificial board when placing the sheets of Lustrolite down. All the Socket/Switch holes were cut with a Jigsaw although in the past I have cut them with a Router and MDF Jig and Dust extraction. The router cutter was just a normal twin flute TC 12.7mm cutter, but there was an issue with heat build up and some of the Acrylic was melting behind the cutter. If I were to do a lot more Lustrolite on a regular basis, I would probably look into getting an upcut spiral cutter of a smaller diameter (probably 6mm or 8mm Dia) as i'm sure it would cut cleaner and aid in the dust extraction as well as cutting down on the heat build-up. There is no actual need to Rout any of the panels to size Allan, as all the cuts can be done with a Plunge saw, using a blade that is specific for this kind of material. The cuts are superb and clean as a whistle. Just a quick light sand and finished with a bit of 320/400 wet & dry paper. Would I have it in my own Kitchen?,........ most definitely! Snezza.

Below is a link to an article that was written for a magazine, featuring this kitchen that I fitted just before Xmas with Lustrolite panels.
Just thought I would add it to this thread. http://www.thekbzine.com/pages/7510/lust...tallation/ Snezza.
