..... If some one in my close area wants to come and work with me.  I have to think in a few years i will be competing agains him in an already volatile market.

Understandable that.

A friend of mine is a really good plumber and took on an apprentice 3 years ago, the apprentice got so good at the job and capable my mate offered him a partnership as opposed to setting up in competition.  They're now doing so well together and taking on more plumbers.

Like mindedness and none greedy business partners are hard to find
