Just fitted a sigma 3 kitchen that Esher kitchens supplied and it had Dekton tops. The template guy said it's brittle and shatters easily. Then I've spoken to a few people since who say it's a nightmare to work with and they have to allow a few more days to machine it.
Its was sold to these people as the bees knees lol.
That's an interesting question. To be perfectly honest how flipping hard do we realistically need our worktops ?? ..... Dekton and all these new sintered stones and porcelains are the toughest materials around, but does the client actually need it !!! My view is until Dekton comes down in price Quartz composites are perfectly adequate and tick all the boxes at a fraction of Dekons price.
Dekton is for Clints who like to know they have the best and something different to next door, but ultimately I actually think it's over priced at the moment.
I to have heard of fabricators having real issues with it, but I think they are learning fast.
Cosentino are pushing it real hard due to the fact they have invested 1 trillion euros , or whatever the figure is, on a dedicated factory, so the display deals on it are currently very very good.
