Welcome ..... funny that, currently I have a damp guy doing some work on my showroom and he also used to be a mortgage and insurance broker when for very similar reasons switched to working on the tools when the housing market crashed in 2008 !!

A lot of us suffered after the crash but quite a few of us survived!! lol  The mortgage & insurance side of things is ticking over, will never make me rich but keeps the wolves from the door!  I just get far more of a buzz from seeing the end result of a weeks hard work than I do from the stress of sorting peoples mortgages out..  I'm in a good position too as, unlike a lot of people starting up, I have 95% of the tools I'll ever need and after being self employed for the last 16 years know what to expect, have a way of earning money regardless of the fitting work coming in and am used to dealing with the dreaded 'cash flow'..  so no nasty shocks!!
