Thanks Daz. We did think about a semi-integrated d/w but the better half would prefer to keep the “handleless” look throughout if poss. I can’t see your render – could you upload it again? We may end up going the semi-integrated route if we have to anyway. It neatly deals with the problem of trying to match different J handle doors. But as you say, the colour may have changed over the years (it’s at least 5 years old I think) so we’d probably have to change the cupboard doors to the side as well. In which case we’re probably looking at the same expense of getting 3 new J handle doors – although I take the point that the semi-integrated d/w door may be easier to open.
The gap is what’s bugging me the most. I’m pretty sure the gap was 615mm at both the top and bottom. That’s the opening dimensions, not the rear wall dimensions. I’ll check the wall ones tonight.
I like the idea of moving the cupboards to the side though. I can’t imagine being able to move them myself, but if I could get someone in to do it then that may be a solution. The cupboard to the left runs to an adjacent wall though, so I don’t think that one can be moved. The cupboard to the right is the start of a single door under-sink unit that runs to the wall on the right (with the unit then going back on itself in an L shape). Not sure if that one can be moved as it might be screwed into the adjacent wall on the right, the back wall, and the adjacent unit housing on the other part of the “L” shape. I’ll have a look tonight though.
Yes, PJK, we knew they were taking the dishwasher but we (perhaps stupidly) assumed they would leave the door behind – can’t imagine they have the exact same kitchen in their new place! I'm sure they probably had a good reason for keeping it, they just didn't give us one, and won't give it back! Grrr...
Thanks Andy - it could well be a Welford door. Looks extremely similar. I found somewhere to order a sample from, but haven't found anywhere that lets you change the standard dimensions.
Luke - yes, I figured it would. We'd still have the gap problem though.
