CR sometimes on the crown units the hole for the cam has been drilled too deeply. If you then try and insert the dowel it hits the top edge of the cam and won't go in. You need to get a screwdriver in the dowel slot and lever the cam till its near flush with the cabinet edge

Simple,.....Just put the Cam in AFTER you have assembled the panels......It will then only drop in as far as the pin. The cam doesn't have to go in first,....well certainly not the cams that I've come across.
