With hindsight Steve, you may well be right, but as I said, the boxing was an afterthought really. I had to work around what was there.
The MDF is fitted from the ceiling down to the top of the wall units. The 2 plant on panels either side of the hood were fitted afterwards and just notched out around the MDF. The Cornice was cut down in front to back depth to accommodate the boxing which had to be the depth it was due to the depth of the Hood Chimney!

My apologies again for the lack of quality in the pics, but the battery was flat on my camera when I went to take the pics. I had to use my HTC Phone for the snaps, and they are disappointing.
Designer Paddy is going to arrange to go round after Xmas and take some clearer pictures once the room has been fully decorated and the Oak skirtings and Oak window cills are fitted.
