The dark units are a matt satin anthracite (which matches the 6m wide bi-fold doors out to the garden and port holes which you can just see in one of the pics) and the lighter units are a 'platinum' colour, which is a light french grey.
So these are all TKC doors would you believe (the ex-Uber range)
RE: the rebate I wondered if someone would notice
I asked for the Corian to be rebated on the back edge. I only wanted the island to stick out 400mm past the base units for chairs but wanted the actually steel element to be 520mm deep so you don't struggle to get a dinner plate and wine glass on it.
I also wanted to overlap the steel on to the corian to give strength to the steel so it didn't sag over time and was supported(it's 2440mm long)
The reason for the rebate was because I knew that the steel once wrapped around an MDF core would have a slight curved edge, it was also unlikely that it would be perfectly straight. So I got the corian rebated so once the 2 pieces were pushed together the tranistion between corian and steel would be pin sharp, rather than being able to see the curved aris on the steel... not sure if i've explained that well!!!
