I built the vanity unit from scratch, though obviously the granite top was bought in.
It's funny you should mention having done all this without the aid of Festool - actually my 'toolbox' is generally quite limited regardless of manufacturer, and making paneled doors for example without the aid of any sophisticated tools has been a real labour. Making mortice & tenon joints for the frames was agonisingly slow using just a drill, router, hand saw and chop saw, and even then the end result was mostly innaucurate which meant a whole lot of fettling to get the rails and stiles to line up properly.
Having just discovered the Festool Domino after having joined this forum has really opened my eyes in terms of knowing what difference a top quality power tool can make. As mentioned elsewhere, we're moving house soon and there will be a whole load more joinery for me to do, so perhaps this is a good excuse/reason to make the investment, even if I don't end up becoming a kitchen fitter!
As far as what I prefer doing out of kitchen or bathroom, really I just enjoy doing everything practical around the house except gardening and decorating!
