Worktop "offcuts"

I'm trying to source some wood for a 'floating' desk in my office. The width is about 1.55m so it might not actually be an off cut, but trying to look for some unused wooden worktop seemed like the best solution.

Does anyone here have any suggestions as to the best place where I might be able to source some from?

Try reclamation yards, the type that normally have old Victorian doors and what not, quite often builders will also give them off cuts of worktop. Also places like gumtree etc. are worth a try.

Although at 1.55m long that's a sizeable piece that many kitchen fitters would keep.

Some suppliers will do 2m lengths of worktop for around £100 new.
