I needed to create a bit of secure outside storage space at home...I won't say on an open forum what for as you probably can all guess but my missus was fed up of "the items" cluttering up our lounge. It needed to be windowless and was breathtakingly expensive to build just in terms of material costs alone but I did do an online search for something similar and nothing would come up to spec.
Started this at the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, almost completed it a while back, but finally put the finishing touches today.
Had a little help from JRB who was staying down with me and helping me out on another job...well, when I say "help" what I mean is he sat on my patio drinking cider and offering occasional tips but it was much appreciated!
So, framework for the shed base built from 3x2 treated CLS:
Fixed some Metposts into the ground and concreted them in as well. Had to dig about a foot down first of all as I couldn't whack them down far enough due to the nature of the soil underneath. Fixed framework down and screwed 8'x4' sheet of 18mm marine ply on top:
Side walls are 2x2 treated CLS and clad with OSB inside:
Shell almost complete:
Celotex insulation, wrapped in a breathable vapour membrane, roof on:
Shiplap cladding...the cost of this stuff soon adds up!!
And a coat of paint...Cuprinol Garden Shades...really recommend this stuff, great coverage, easy to apply:
And finally today, I got the guttering and water butt installed. Problem is I have two other sheds in my garden which I have now painted to match the colour and then there's a fair few metres of close board fencing to repaint as well.
