Daniel's Latest - Sort Of !!

Hi Lads,

I actually done this one summer 2013 but we have only now had the opportunity to go back and take some professional images.

Its high gloss handle less units, Miele appliances (except the range which the client already bought before I had designed the kitchen ) Ceasarstone tops, walnut breakfast bar with matching shelves and glass splash back.

I have always wanted to design a kitchen where everything was on the island (hob, sink, prep, breakfast bar) and finally got the chance with this one. Its an old kitchen so I already see things on it I would do differently now, but overall I'm happy with it - best bit is the lazy susan in the centre of the island which we made from the same glass as the rear splash back.

We also did the TV entertainment furniture in the living area (as shown in the images) and 5 wardrobes for this one.

What are the things you would change about it? I can see a couple of things, but it would be interesting to see if yours are the same...

1. Lazy Susan - nice idea, particularly for such a large island, but I would have made it circular. I bet the corners are constantly hitting stuff

2. I don't like the white showing between the drawer fronts

Other than that, the only other thing I would change is the choice of colour, but I guess that's personal choice rather than a niggle!

can you remember how the wood worktop was attached to the stone. the 1st picture looks to me like its sitting on the stone but the 5th pic looks like the stone has been cut round the wood?
ive got to do the same same and the granite people said just use something like fixall and it will be a goodun.

I would definitely include lighting on the rear shallow units and shelves next time.

I would also insist on not having the range which to be fair they did give me the option not to have, but I felt I should use it considering they had already bought it.

I would also spec the pendant lights for them as the current ones don't sit right - they are bloody expensive Murano glass items and very nice on their own but not quite right for this kitchen.

I think I would also go for a veneer breakfast bar and shelves rather than block work.

Finally I would probably change the stark white units to a softer tone.

No white on the drawer fronts, thats the light from the camera probably, its steel to match the plinths and profiles.

Circular Lazy Susan is a good idea.

The stone is cut around the wood. My fitter anchored the timber on the roof of the shallow rear base units with some screw fixings.

Designer Paddy is quoting one at the moment,....... fingers crossed,........it should photograph well with the colours the client has chosen. Its a huge room, with a Utility area as well.

PS, How's the Manflu mate? I'm still struggling, I still feel rough as hell.

Very nice, I to would love to do a kitchen with all services in an island. Did they not have external corner posts I can't make them out on this screen.

I think it needs some jazzy art on the walls to complement the pendant lights, they do stand out.

No external corner posts, this model makes do with side panels and a continuation of the steel profile and plinths around the sides.
