Renders are fantastic - do you know what software he uses?

Personally not a fan of SS w/tops in residential houses but each to their own! We've done copper before which was pretty nice though. I agree a contract/pop if colour would really lift things.

Thanks Jayne. Stainless steel is an interesting one, we fit around 2-3 every year. I think as long as the client is made aware of its drawbacks then it’s a fantastic material for kitchens that will have hard use.   I always tell Clints they will hate the first 6 months of use, but after it gets scratched well and buffs in they will soon love it .... that’s the feedback I have had over the years.

Agreed. If they expect it to look 'showroom fresh' the whole time, then they'll be disappointed. 
Once it's worn in, then SS has a great finish and you really don't need to think about abusing it.

What does the texturised lacquer look like?

I wonder whether the room's big enough for the olive breakfast bar and a table - what do you think to having a larger breakfast bar where the table is and losing the one spanning the islands?

The texturised lacquer doesn't really look any different to a normal matt lacquer, its just got a very faint texture to it making it more tactial, almost like the MDF has been lightly sandblasted.  For some reason once we show Clints the texturised lacquer they always prefer it to the standard matt finish.

I won't lie the breakfast bar and table together is a little on the tight side, but it should work.  Even so we are now in the middle of redesigning the island so this twin set up will almost certainly go now.   I have suggested a normal island (2200 x 950) with hobs and second sink, and then a olive wood breakfast bar floating over the top of the island suspended by glass.  Don't have any images yet but will keep the thread updated once the client comes back from holiday in August and we've had more meetings.
