Good Morning & Hello!

My Name is Ben im from Carlisle a company called Thwaite Holme Kitchens & Bedrooms we are a bespoke kitchen / bedroom / furniture builder who build everything from scratch. i currently have brought the company into the 21st century away from hand drawn diagrams to pc generated images with no training to myself. below are a couple of my recent attempts.

what im looking for next is better production of images, how to get better lighting, more realistic effects and more realistic decorations to finish off the actual appearance.

Thanks Daz, Sorry about the images being pretty huge. will make sure there adjusted in future and get rid of the Thwaites Borders, they were just the ones i had to hand that were recent at low res.

Hi Ben welcome,

Never had training as well. You have def found the right place to learn more.

The difference in my renders from 7 months ago are night and day now thanks mainly to the help on here with Textures and lighting.

Thanks Joe, I Hope it helps and improvements come along i have already read a few little tips which i will be trying out, its just getting that realistic look at the moment that i am really wanting to capture.

Don't worry to much about image size as Stretch who runs/owns this forum has given up complaining about our images being to big I think    ... Maybe when the server starts complaining it's running out of disc space that could be a different matter... I tend use Photobucket for some rather than attaching images in posts as this does not fill up the KFF forum's server storage.

One thing I hardly use is the Point (Always make the default point one zero) and Spot lights. Not sure whether it is the Jpg compression but can you see the colour banding on the walls in your renders. This is due I think to the way those lights work to a degree.
Sky, Sun and Lit appearance all day long for me...

Yeh i agree with you - just need to know how to do the sky, sun, lit appearance stuff to my benefit

Hi Ben,

I'm actually just up the road from you in Dumfries. Best way to learn is to go back and read old posts - the guys on here are exceptionally helpful. I'm not very techy so sometimes it does take a bit or reading over to digest but its worth the effort. Everyone on here goes out of their way to help you, its a good place to be!
