My DIY install

Hi All,

Having a spare bit of time at home my wife thought it would be perfect time for a new kitchen. Im not a kitchen installer by trade but have always liked a challenge when it comes to DIY. Kitchen is now 95% complete (just needs a blind for the window and a few other bits).

Kitchen was purchased for Crown imperial and worktop was installed by 3rd party.

That looks really nice mate. Very well done. Just at tweek on the draw fronts to make it perfect

Design wise I would have put the oven hsg in the middle and the tall 500 to the left of it but if you've designed it for yourselves then you know how you want it.

We've done a few of the Crown handless kitchens with the aluminium finger profiles and they do take a bit of setting up and working out.

How did you cut the aluminium rail?

I like the fact that the worktop has been done flush with the fascias. The thing we've found is that you need bring the base units off the wall from 555mm to 580mm to compensate for this otherwise you end up with a worktop at 575mm deep which can cause problems with sink and hob cut outs.

The tap does look a little close to the up stands, as does the back of the hob.

Great job for a DIYer nonetheless. I've seen a lot worse installed by so called "professionals".

It looks good. Like the others I noticed the symmetry issue re the oven but I'm guessing you weighed up the options. You could have put the 500 unit to one side and centred the oven but you still wouldn't have achieved perfect symmetry.

The drawer alignment looks a tiny bit out but that could just be photography. Also I noticed that it looks like there is a gap where you have cut the coving for the extractor chimney.

All round though it looks really good and I'm sure we would all be happy to have a kitchen like that in our portfolios.

Thanks for all your feedback. Like I said It's 95% complete. Funny enough the drawers where all aligned perfect but since they have been filled and used they need re-adjusting. Also the coving does need to be filled.
It was not possible to move the base units away form the walls as that would not have left enough room the the tall cupboards (i think I'm right here?). this is why theres not much of a gap between the taps/hob & up-stand.
We did considor having the oven in the middle but this meant having the pull-out larder near the base units. This would mean that the we would only be able to access the larder from one side!
I cut the Aluminium profile with a hack saw.
