My first attempt

Since there hasn't been much activity in this section for a while, I thought I'd add photos from my first kitchen design and installation. This was completed 3 years ago, and part of my own property refurbishment ... which was an extensive project! I subsequently left my job as a mechanical engineer to set up my own business doing similar projects for other people.

The single storey rear extension comprised of a kitchen and bathroom. I relocated the bathroom upstairs (whilst also adding an en-suite to the master bedroom and a downstairs toilet) and extended the kitchen to utilise this enlarged area. I also added french doors, overlooking the garden.

I was keen on clean lines and hence opted for plain doors with tutch latches. However, servo drive drawers didn't exist at this time (as far as I knew), so I resorted to simple recessed handles for the drawers. The worktop and upstands (and windlowledge) are honed black nero granite. The floor tiles benefit from underfloor heating and the utility cupboard houses the washing machine and boiler.

The kitchen evolved a little when by now wife moved in, adding narrow cupboards to the other wall and what I have termed a 'smoothie' bar - in essence a posh breakfast bar!!!

Think is the sort of effect I'll be going for if I ever get round to doing my own kitchen!!

Many thanks for the Clints. I had to improvise a bit with the washing machine/boiler cupboard, by placing a batten on the end wall to fill the gap, then 2 600mm wide doors; the lower area house the washing machine and all associated 'odds and sods' with the boiler housed above. Sufficient circulation around the boiler has been provided.
