Nice job snezza, i always put electrical switches and isolators in the carcasses, sockets should be the only things on show, isolator behind the hob is a fail as mentioned.

As I stated earlier in this thread, the Sparkies & Plumbers on this job were muppets...!!!

Having said that though, they will have issued Certficates for the job, so how do they stand with regard to the Hob switch? It isn't actually behind the Hob, if I remember correctly, the RHS of the Hob switch is about 280m from the side of the Oven housing & the Hob edge is about 320mm.

Snezza, there aren't any regs on isolators positions, there are gudelines of 300mm but for instance, if you haven't got room you can put it as close as you need to, that goes for sinks aswell, it must be fit for purpose, if it was deemed that the electrical accessory was going to be exposed to water then it should be suitable ie water proof, but sockets near sinks dont really get wet, its the same for isolators, need to be dit for purpose. Sockets and isolators can go behind appliances ie ovens but gudelines for best practise would say it is best if they are accessible, but there are no regs to say you cant do it ?

I always assumed if you wanted an outlet closer than 300mm to a sink then it needed to be an rcbo rather than a standard MCB? Or have I got that wrong?

All sockets have to be on rcd and any wiring whatsoever that is buried in a wall has to be rcd protected now, if it is already there and you are fitting a sink next to it, you dont have to worry about it, if there isnt an rcd already in place, there is no need to get one fitted, its only new additions that come under the regs of rcd protection

When i say all wiring, i mean any new wiring, existing is of no conscern
