Latest Job - Door Change

Finished this off this morning (almost!) after Jon gave me a lift yesterday.

Was a very simple door change, except they wanted the peninsular re-configuring. Originally there was an integrated fridge & freezer under there, but they were taken out a couple of years ago & replaced, quite badly, with a 600 drawerpack & a 600 cupboard. They wanted bigger drawers, so I supplied a 900 drawer pack and a 300 cupboard.

This meant changing the carcases, and the end & back panel, under the existing granite worktop!

I actually remembered to take a couple of 'before shots' which almost never happens:





And then this morning:













In the end it went pretty smoothly, with a couple of exceptions.

1. I stupidly only ordered 2 lengths of coving/pelmet, so there wasn't enough. Light pelmet is missing from 2 of the wall units.

2. Even more stupid, there was this slight hiccup:



The picture doesn't show it too well, but when screwing the corner post in place I forgot it was a J handle... TBH, I didn't even realise I'd done it until Jon pointed it out later in the day!

So a new 300 door (to make a new corner post) and a third length of coving are now on order!

I made the same mistake fitting a fridge door onto a j profile door'its a only make ones mistake [hopefully]

All I can say mate is I'm sooooo glad I didn't fix that corner post as I think I'd had fixed it in the same way. They are perfect as well part from the 2 holes anyway.

What's the dishwasher like to open?

In theory this looks like an easy straight swap but it was quite fiddley to do. The first day was anyway.

Worked out fine mate. It's quite a deep profile on these doors, so it's easy to open with one hand.

Nice change lads, where did you get the doors from? I see you worked back to the corner because of the end panel slotting into the tiles
Did you charge them for polishing the granite?

First floor jobs are a pet hate of mine, up and down the stairs.

Looks a top job lads...after what we've been through this week I might be glad of a simple door change every now and again.....

Don't particularly like that step out around what I assume is a boiler cupboard but given you are working with the original design it couldn't be avoided with a lot more work.

And I can spot the fook up with the corner post perfectly despite the fact that the pics were resized according to forum rules....

Doors were from Multiwood - Welford Grey.

No Prem, didn't charge them for polishing the granite, but I did give them a clean. Also, the original cabs had sagged (quite a lot in some places!) and the original resin-filled joints were fooked. Ended up removing it & re-doing both joints with black silicone. If you look closely at the corner where the kettle is, you can see from the front edge and the reflections that whole area has dropped quite considerably.
