Hi all.

I am a fitter based in the north Cotswolds, currently employed direct by a company but shortly going back to being self employed. As my name suggests I am a festool addict, although I do have the mafell jigsaw! 

I'm going to be sub contract fitting for a couple of localish companies and also setting up my own business which I can start to push when I've gone back to being self employed.. Currently debating wether to lease a new van or buy one 5-6 years old.

I think leasing a vehicle at first seems like an expensive option and money down the drain - a bit like renting a house instead of mortgaging for one -  but when you consider the benefits of a manufacturers warranty, a lease maintenance programme and the fact you're pretty much guaranteeing it will start every morning it can definitely make sense for some.   Plus the fact you are driving around in a nice new vehicle which is good for your health ( I think !! ) and also what a brand new vehicle says about you and your company to your Clints, I think if you can get a deal that makes you feel comfortably financially its a good move.

Over the years I have owned plenty of cars and I was never sold on financing or leasing, but when you really look at what you can get these days it can make man car money sense 

p.s. I suppose I should mention I only think it makes sense for company owners .....

Leasing is definitely worth looking into as it gives you the advantages of  a nice new vehicle for a low monthly cost .
I bought numerous new merc vans and cars before I looked into leasing and given the large depreciation on new vehicles ,leasing is definitely more cost effective .
Have a good shop around though as rates vary tremendously on the the same vehicle.

Haha I must admit I do love the jigsaw, it's a beast! Next purchase will be blue and green don't worry.... I do have a metabo table saw and a few makita bits but other than that it's festool. Definately no chance of polluting it with any of that horrible yellow and black shite!

Done a bit of research into leasing over the last week and surprisingly the best deal I can get is on a transporter.. But it's still another £120 a month on top of what it would cost me to but something 4-6 years old plus there's a £1900 deposit as well. BUT I would be able to put all my lovely festool kit ( and the mafell ) in a shiny new transporter!
