Replacing Hotpoint 6961 integrated FF hinges

Hi guys,

I'm not a Kitchen fitter, but am hoping somebody can help me out. The bottom hinge on the fridge section of my Hotpoint integrated FF has snapped and i'm trying to replace the hinges. I've bought 2 new hinges and what I thought was going to be a relatively easy task looks like it might be anything but :(

I thought the hinges were just screwed into the carcass of the kitchen unit that enclose the fridge/freezer, but after undoing these screws it looks like the hinge may also be attached to the fridge itself as well.

Do I need to completely remove the fridge from the unit before I can replace the hinges or am I missing something really simple that i need to do???

very rare for a ff hinge to go. is it on the appliance or a normal hinge that holds the door facia?

we generally get the hinge on a fridge that is under the worktop broken. They are not classed as hinges just pivots.

so our Q is is the door facia fixed to the carcass and has white plastic guide rails?
or
Is the door facia fixed to the appliance?

chip off the block yes those are the hinges (didn't pay that much for them though!!)

Prem, I've attached a picture of the hinge and how its fitted at the moment, the door is on the left hand side, part of the hinge sits in a recess in the wooden door fascia and i think is then screwed in to the door facia behind the actual fridge door, there are also 2 screws that go from the hinge in to the side of the fridge door (if that makes sense), the actual fridge is then obviously on the right hand side (though I guess I didn't have to tell you that lol).

Hi Steven,

I assume there are 4 hinges, as you said it was an Int. Fridge freezer, one pair per door.
If you remove each screw from each hinge, the one visable in your photo, then just pull the fridge forward by about 4", enough to expose the fixings on the outside of the Fri/Fre. There will be no need to take the Fri/Fre completely out of the cabinet.

Just slacken off the rear screw and remove the front screw on the broken hinge and replace it with your new one. Re-fit the front screw and tighten them both up. Then just slide the Fri/Fre back and re-fit the four screws back through the hinges into the cabinet.

Snezza, that kinda makes sense, I may have described it slightly wrong though, the fridge is a separate unit to the freezer but sits on a shelf above the freezer, that's what I meant by integrated (in to the kitchen units), but yes you are right, there are 2 doors so will possibly just need to remove the 2 screws initially (the ones for the hinges for the fridge door). Will have to see then if I have enough room to turn the fridge slightly on the shelf as the side of the unit is against a wall, so not much room to get a screwdriver in. This is definitely going to be a 2 man job, will have to rope in the other halfs father to help out

Update as promised lol I've managed to fit the hinges now, they were fitted exactly like Snezza said but i had to take the fridge out as there wasn't enough room to play with, luckily the fridge was lighter than I expected so I could take it out and put it back in myself.
