What is 'not to regs' about having the cooker switch in a wall unit? BTW, you can have both appliances on a single 6mm 32A feed. Up to 15kw infact, when you apply diversity.

Not to regs means they should have unobstructed access. It's just good practise to allow for 2 30amp feeds. Never checked the wattage but if they did want to change the oven and hob in a few years time this way it won't be a problem. Going to go check wattage now though cos I'm sure it will be over

Dont think the phrase 'unobstructed access' will be defined in the regs, i always put them in units and dont count the door as a sigificant obstruction! Fair enough id say behind drawers is no good, but behind a door is fine IMHO. Im guessing either you or your spark must agree since youve put it there too!

A similar theme is having junction boxes under floorboards - definately inaccessible in my books but everyone seems to think its fine!

I can imagine a lot of messing about, especially with old units, but at the end of the day if the customer is left pleased with the results - then the job's a success.

Nice idea about the 'top boxes' on the wall units. That long one above the two far left of the cooker - couldn't the one on the right hinged the other way? This would have let the long box completely accessible?

Hope the boiler cupboard lasts without the doors warping due to the heat - looks nice and tidy. Still if that was at their request...

Cheers mate, the doors were hinged this way before and they didn't want it changing!!!!had a long chat with them about it but couldn't sway them even with 170 hinged. There's loads of venting for the boiler cupboard, more than if I'd put vents in the doors just done a quick workout in my head and it's about 80 inch2 as the doors are hinged so there's a 25mm gap from the back of the door to the frame.
