Not a Kitchen... - snezza - 20-02-2022 It was my mates 60th birthday a week before my 60th a couple of weeks back. I decided to make him a little gift from some Oak he had given me about 7 years ago. He had to have the Oak tree felled in his garden so I offered to take as much of the trunk as I could after it had laid on the ground for about a month.... I'd cut it into planks on my bandsaw and kept it in Stick for all those years, then run through my planer thicknesser to final dimensions. I was pleasantly surprised to find some of the Oak planks had Spalted, so picked the less punky planks and the mitered box I made for him is shown in the pictures below.... Finish was 6 coats of sanding sealer flatted down between coats and final finish was Microcrystalline Wax buffed. [attachment=3181] [attachment=3182] [attachment=3183] [attachment=3184] [attachment=3185] [attachment=3186] It's about 380mm wide x 190mm deep x 100mm tall and all the Oak is about 9mm thick and lined with black felt. RE: Not a Kitchen... - wjskitchens - 20-02-2022 Nice work Tim he should be chuffed with box and the quality of your work again. ?y RE: Not a Kitchen... - Cliff1970 - 21-02-2022 That's genuinely very beautiful mate Looks like it should have a couple of Antique pistols in it!!
