Hi All
I live in Romford. I am afraid it's a bit of sad story so far but I am hopeful.
I am not a kitchen fitter nor a Kitchen designer. But I want to become both or at-least one.
I Tried getting a job at Wickes, Howden, Magnet etc but no luck. I tried to get a job at independent kitchen as salesman but no luck.
I Contacted 5-6 fitters to take me as apprentice but no luck.
I work as security guard on 3 Day - 3 Night - 3 Off. And I am willing to offer myself for FREE during the off days. If anyone want me please let me know.
I am also planning to buy a software. Practice it. And then keep trying my luck.
I hope to be a regular contributor. Wanna be legend.

The reasons I want to come into this business
1. I am able to squeeze some days to relax/travel in between projects.
2. It allows me to start my own business(a dream) without significant investment.
3. Good earning potential
4. When I have software I can learn at home. I hope to find some help on this form
5. The joys of running your own business. And the troubles.
6. If the business is not successful I can always go and work for a shed for some time
7. The joy of finishing a project and see the satisfaction on the customer's face
I am already working full time. This is my side project currently. I am not afraid to jump full time when I get some experience.
I hope I have answered the question clearly. Looking to contribute and get help.

Maybe Tim @"snezza" might like a bit of free labour I know he’s pulled out with it and at his age someone helping him carry that Corion would be a godsend

If Gdogra was closer to my location, it would have been very helpful and I would have taken him up on the offer.
......and that Corian definitely seems to be feeling heavier and heavier......!!

.... I'm not putting a downer on this for you but just some light realities.

Like Daniel says significant investment in both sectors is inevitable if you want to progress.
Designing is less of an investment, but a decent design package and good renders will get you noticed. Thats if you have a designers head on, the sheds are full of wan a be designers that have failed and now just copy a customers kitchen with a tweak. Ive been fitting their crap for 30 years.
Fitting is another ball of wax, you cant fit a kitchen without a good tool collection. Which is an on going wallet drain throughout your working life. Then like designing you have to have a DIY skill set, which will be easily found out in the first months or year. Unlike designing you cant delete and start again or swap thing around, mistakes cost BIG TIME.
Good luck in what you do, you have a good attitude which is a big plus in your favour.
