Greetings from Bristol - SteveTheLeak - 31-10-2017

Hi all,

I'm looking at a career change and just starting to think about kitchen fitting. I am interested in the ergonomics of kitchen layouts and kitchen design. However I am a complete beginner looking to move from Plumbing to diversify into this area. I have been thinking about taking up this http://www.gratisfaction.co.uk/freebies/free-bq-kitchen-design/ to get some ideas how B&Q approach design aspects, but in the meantime I am interested to know what advice is out there, books to read, qualifications etc.

Thanks for taking the time to read. Hoping to get some real insights from you guys  ThumbUp

Welcome Steve ThumbUp

Although the forum is very open I am not sure that link you have in your post is appropriate as it just a B&Q add for a free design service for customers and not for a design course that you may have been thinking it was... B&Q I personally would not recommend as the correct company to pick up design tips from anyway..

Stretch the forum owner/moderator will confirm whether this is okay to leave or you can edit the post beforehand.

Hi Daz, so B&Q are not even worth bothering with? I thought it might be useful to get them out to talk to? I've been out of touch with the plumbing trade for a while and just want to meet some people in the area of Kitchen Design?

Any suggestions appreciated.

thanks

Stevo

Hi Steve ThumbUp
Daz is right, B+Q and design are not words that gel at all. B+Q and  bad................. insert any word, it will apply to them.

Its a few months off, but get yourself to the KBB show at the NEC birmingham in March.  There will be designers there and a raft of kitchen manufacturers, as well as around 10 of the forum members there on the sunday.
