New (Old) Fitter - FreddyRhodes - 12-06-2015 Hello all, Wanted to introduce myself and say hi to the forum. Came across the site while google searching something and read a few of the posts which made me chuckle so thought i'd register! Saw a bit of banter about Festool whores, which i am ashamedly one of.. Only in a plunge saw/Ct extractor/systainer sense of the term, but all the same - i dream of a day where a 5/6 number lottery win may pave the way for a garage full of grey and green boxes! To be fair, kitting myself out with sustainers for all my dealt and makita gear is the only way i can successfully pack a Berlingo comfortably for all the tools i need to get a fit done, so i am a 'practical whore' at least..! I've been a fitter since i was 16 and turned 29 on Monday, which is a scary thing to say (type) out loud.. Had a break in between and delved into a sales job, where i had a few lucky deals that helped me to setup again and do what i really love (wells up..) which is kitchen fitting. Cheers! RE: New (Old) Fitter - Claydon Lad - 12-06-2015 Welcome aboard Freddy. We're not a bad bunch.....well maybe the odd exception RE: New (Old) Fitter - andy5405 - 13-06-2015 I'm an exception and I'm quite odd! I'm also neally 6 months off the tools and physically shabby. I picked up a bag of bonding today and I don't remember it being that heavy. RE: New (Old) Fitter - FreddyRhodes - 13-06-2015 I had a similar experience mate - fitting in a big flat on the 1st floor a couple of weeks back, and it didn't take six months, probably only 15 minutes from me carrying up the 1st thousand unit, to saying the exact same sentence 'i don't remember it being that heavy..' when carrying up the last of the three! How stretch didn't ban you is astonishing. He is still sporting "CRAP-ELL" stuff. Welcome all the same. (Just a heads up don't mention wanting to get a Kapex. You will get ambushed with people telling you to sell you wife to get one)............. .......... ......... .........which actually sounds like a good idea. RE: New (Old) Fitter - FreddyRhodes - 13-06-2015 I need the wife - she supports the habbit! Earlier mentioned sales experienced actually enabled me to convince her (and partly myself..) that buying top quality tools, will produce top quality work, to higher paying Clints and faster, allowing me to turn over more work which earns more money. Which to her basically means handbags, shoes and nice meals out. Easy sell really..! My first track saw was a maffell! Great saw, just had a look about it like Tescos had gone into making power tools, thats all..
