This week's job almost finished - jonny round boy - 24-04-2015

Just a few pics of the job I've been fitting this week. Jon (PJK) was helping out on this one earlier this week too:

Granite was template yesterday & is going in next week. I've just got to fit the doors & drawerfronts on the island (I haven't sprayed them yet!), box in the pipework, and fit the skirting.

There was also a very small utility as well (which Jon fitted most of!) but I forgot to take pictures of that Doh.

Carcases from ECF, and doors are Multiwood Meldon Cream. Island is Meldon too, but sprayed by me in a colourmatch to F&B 'Oval Room Blue'.

All appliances are CDA.

Very smart, it's got a real nice feel about it that one.

Not sure where my BUT is going to be? If I was being really picky I'm not a fan of those style handles, but I now they are quite popular.

Do you make the D/W tops up yourself on site, or do you order panels already to size?

RE: This week's job almost finished - jonny round boy - 24-04-2015

I too wasn't sure about the handles, they're fookin' massive! They look good once they're on though, and the client loves them.

The appliance roof for the dishwasher I just made on site. I used an offcut of oak MFC I had in the workshop (not quite the same as the carcases, but it's never seen anyway) and the front edge of it that's visible when the door is open was cut from a spare 800 wide drawerfront I had left from a previous job that happened to be the same cream colour.

Yeah I did see you'd faced it, thought it was carcase colour but that must be the cut edge.

Just noticed the routed top vent for the microwave. Nice little touch that often gets overlookedThumbUp

Like the island Jonny with the return T&g endsThumbUp Think the fridge needs a cream top plinth to close the top gap.
i can see the walls are out a littleDoh

What colour tops are going in?
Did you do the floor?

The finish looks great mate. Well done. Good to see it after the doors are on. Some really nice, well thought up design on this one. The micro and the whole island. Those walls though!!!! Miles out.

Yes, that combi microwave is one that's listed as 'not suitable for built-under worktop fitting' in the catalogue. I assumed it was for ventilation reasons, and e-mailed CDA's technical dept with a drawing & basically said "if I put these vents in will you honour the warranty" and they said yes (in writing!). There's a filler to go in the top above it cut from a drawerfront, and that will have a 10mm deep scallop in it too.

I did wonder about that (I posted about it a couple of weeks ago) but the client is happy with it as-is.

The fridge surround is the one thing on this job I'd do differently if I were to do it again.

The T&G on the island was a bit of a pain - they don't do an island back panel, in fact they only do one size of panel full-stop, and that's a tall end panel 2400 x 650. So the ends & back I had to cross-cut to length, trim to width & joint them to get the wider panels.

The tops are Star Galaxy. I didn't do the floor, but it's Karndean, one of the Da Vinci range I think.

One of the things that made this job so nice to fit was that it was an empty room when I got there. All the plumbing/electrics/plastering done (some of the plastering is a bit dodgy in places though!), walls & ceiling painted, and floor already laid wall to wall.

The walls weren't bad compared to the floor!

That's not camera distortion - that 1840mm long bit of plinth varies by over 20mm on the height! 150 down to 138, up to 162, then back down to 155!!!

Looks a nice fit Jonny

You couldn't talk them into corain then.

On a side note you say you sprayed the doors I take it its water based paint.

It is, I used Morrell's waterborne lacquer.
