black high gloss with inset handles - nomislotsirb - 16-07-2008 Just completed a black high gloss kitchen with inset handles and oak worktops. Before ... After ... RE: black high gloss with inset handles - Edecko - 16-07-2008 Lurverly job. RE: black high gloss with inset handles - chip off the block - 16-07-2008 dont really ike the ulu strip handles. If they like the flush handles i prefer the ones with no bottem to them to let themuck past. The fit looks good though RE: black high gloss with inset handles - Nickynockynoonoo - 17-07-2008 Nice job but totally agree with Chip about the handles. RE: black high gloss with inset handles - Majjie - 17-07-2008 It does look good! I love the worktop ... will they look after it? The new handles aren't quite as bad as the old ones ... but I bet they'll still catch a good few crumbs and greasy gobs :( I really don't understand why handles like that have come back into fashion. Some man thought it was a good idea, I bet! :P RE: black high gloss with inset handles - nomislotsirb - 17-07-2008 Many thanks for all your Clints. Can I ask a cheeky question? I'm reviewing my prices since I think I may be underpricing. You know what I'm going to ask! What would you charge for the kktchen above, so I can gauge where I stand? The works included everything - electrics, plumbing, decorating, worktops, flooring (albeit just vinyl!). The kitchen comprised: - integrated washing machine w door - integrated 450mm dishwasher w door - SS oven - electric hob - integrated hood w door - SS sink & tap - 500mm sink unit - corner base unit - 800mm base unit (w Blumotion drawers) - 400mm base unit (w Blumotion drawer) - 2 off 600mm horizontal wall units - 500mm horizontal wall unit - 450mm wall unit - 2 off 300mm wall unit - 800mm wall unit - 400mm wall unit - breakfast bar (approx. 150cm long) (wall units 900mm high) Many thanks, Simon RE: black high gloss with inset handles - Stretch - 19-07-2008 Did you supply and fit this one Simon? This is always a difficult question............ You obviously do a good job as nothing instantly makes me want to criticise from what I can see in the pics so it's more a question of what you think you're worth. I'm guessing that you're West Country so obviously a bit of money down there so it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect to clear £1000.00 a week labour only and that is for 5 days - not 6 and a couple of hours on Sunday morning. If not more.......... This is difficult to answer as I prefer the supply and fit route as the profit margins are easier to disguise. I honestly believe that if your work is to a good standard and you've been recommended then you can name your own price and you will get the job, even over someone who has priced it £500 - £1000 cheaper. So, to try and answer the original question.............. If I were to do this job including all the works you have detailed I would be asking 3 to 3.5K absolute minimum. RE: black high gloss with inset handles - nomislotsirb - 20-07-2008 Thanks very much Stretch. That's very useful. From what you say it seems I'm undercharging. It was for supply and fit, but it cost the client, just shy of £7k. However, this still equates to between £600-700 pw (although I also did the design, and that doesn't include that time, albeit that's not much). I'm currently building up a portfolio however, and therefore, I'm getting a lot from it in that sense. Thanks again. |
