German Kitchen & British Island - snezza - 08-06-2014
Not quite finished yet, as the Granite for the Island is being fitted in the next few days.
This Island has been a real challenge in so many ways, right from when the client first walked into the showroom with a few rough sketches, to getting all the doors delivered on time. As you can see from the pics, I am still waiting for the Curved doors in the correct colour to arrive. The white curved doors and plinths should be the same colour as the flat panels, Hi-Gloss Stone. So, the British kitchen supplier sent the white doors in to enable me to get the job "finished" by this coming week when the NHBC inspection is due.
The Granite top is BIG.......!!!!! Approx 2300mm wide X 1900mm deep. Cut-outs for an 800 wide hob and Downdraft hood. Granite is Nero Asoluto......really heavy according to the fitter that came on Friday to fit the stone on the sink and utility room runs.

Anyway, more pics will follow of the complete job when I get it all finished next week.
Funnily enough, the Contract Director said he quite liked the contrast of the doors on the Island.....!!!!

Very good snezza, an island without end panels takes some doing
. thats the reason for the pop up socket.Did you put in the ducting for the down draft yourself? I don't like leaving such an important part to hairy arsed builders.

No, not as such Prem.
This is the last of 10 kitchens on this Site and the 4th one to have a ducted downdraft hood fitted. I have overseen the installation of the first fix electrics, plumbing and ducting on all the Plots I was going to be working on to ensure everything was where it should be and to my specification.
All the floor ducting has been done in 150mm round pipe, fitted in the sub-floor prior to the floors being screeded and tiled. Some of the Plots had Island ceiling hoods, so I had the builders fit 150mm ducting in the ceiling and additional timber/plywood to carry the weight of the hoods, all prior to the Plasterboard installation. So far, so good!

Lovely looking island Snezza, bet the granite boys were happy when they saw that
From the sounds of it you have been heavily involved on these plots from the start, I can imagine tis quite a stress at times but seeing the finished installation I bet its all worth it.
Another lovely looking job though mate

The guy who came and templated the other runs in the kitchen and utility room, is the owner of the granite company. He reckoned there would be about 20mm spare on an un-cut granite slab for this island. We sent about 3 different layouts to them back in the design stage, to ensure we could get what the client wanted and that it wasn't too big for the size of granite that was available.
He also said, he is going to get 6 fitters there to lift if into position. It will have to come through the house and then through the door from the hallway, diagonally!!!!......
I was given the original architects drawings of the 10 plots, back in November 2012. Initially, we had to do 2 designs for each of the plots.
As it turned out, I supplied 8 of the kitchens and fitted 9 of them. One guy bought and fitted his own.
It has been a nice ongoing project, and the Builders have been really good to work with. They have quite a few more projects in the pipeline that I am optomisic that I will get to quote for. One of the projects is huge.......! Fingers Crossed
All the purchasers of the houses have been really nice people to deal with as well. Each of the kitchens have had their own set of challenges, as you would expect with a project like this.
