Victorian Style Bathroom with a Twist Before & After - Glenlith1 - 16-09-2013 Hi All This is a bathroom we designed and installed a few months ago now. RE: Victorian Style Bathroom with a Twist Before & After - chip off the block - 16-09-2013 I was going to comment to say how the tiles look like different batches as some looked different colours, then scrolled down to see I was looking at the before pics. Looks great that does mate, just the sort of stuff I like. Is this the same house as the 1909 kitchen? Awesome RE: Victorian Style Bathroom with a Twist Before & After - chip off the block - 17-09-2013 More info on those lit shelves please RE: Victorian Style Bathroom with a Twist Before & After - Glenlith1 - 18-09-2013 Hi Everyone Thanks for the Clints, much appreciated. @ Chip This is not the house with the 1909, he could not afford a bathroom like that. Its actually Neil Scoffield's house It was for someone else, however the couple with the 1909, I have their en-suite & main bathroom booked in before Christmas. Lit Shelves This particular area in Glasgow south, has a problem with the bathroom size (L), and the bath sizes available. They are 2mtrs long (I know you can get a 2mtr bath but they take an eternity to fill). Bringing the wall in is an issue also, as it would pass the reveal for the sash window. For other installers, they just leave a shelf......a water trap, a breeding ground for bacteria and a call back in a few months, because the silicone is mouldy or a roll top, but they end up too near wall, leaving a pube trap in the two corners behind bath . I thought of this box idea, making it work with the metro tile return run. This keeps the height for a good seal, stepping down to accommodate sash and a place to put toiletries. Ply box made inserted tube lighting (on a custom internal shelf), linked with coving lights, and capped them with translucent 12mm Kiron with 20mm downstands (Porcelanosa version of corian). there was dark spots round outer edge effecting light through downstands, so had to remove, and laser in clear cocktail sticks upside down (lollipop end screwed into ply), so height was calculated that bottom of downstand was just below top tile in that section (allow an unseen silicone seal. This gave an elevated clear platform allowing light to pass. Sit Kiron back in place, light was coming through downstands, then sealed all round and under with silicone. If you need to change a bulb, cut silicone on bottom shelf, east access to remove bulbs, remove/replace and reseal.
