Penthouse Kitchen - snezza - 04-10-2012 As the title suggests, this was in a penthouse apartment. The job entailed the kitchen, sliding partition, Office/Study, and DVD/CD cases in the lounge. I made the DVD/CD display cases from scratch in my workshop in Colchester. They also have infinitely adjustable shelf positions via a track system. I put up the sliding partition to split the kitchen from the office/study. I ordered the panels for the sliding doors from my German kitchen supplier so that they would match the colour of the kitchen cabinets perfectly. Cabinets were by Stormer in Hi-Gloss Cubanit with st/steel edges, appliances are all Siemens apart from the wine cooler. Worktops are BB Encore-Black Sparkle Solid Surface. Undermount Sink and Tap are both Blanco and the boiling water tap is a Quooker. PS. The hob position was'nt my idea, before someone mentions it I wanted to put the hob in the island, but there were technical issues coz of the floor, and therefore we could'nt fit a downdraft hood !!!! Snezza. RE: Penthouse Kitchen - nsk - 04-10-2012 very nice work there snezza, top notch what kind or worktops are they? noticed the sink set up.. looks great ! Oh, And a question about the hob............ just re-read worktops are encore RE: Penthouse Kitchen - Daniel - 04-10-2012 Took the words out of my mouth about the hob Looks like a really good fit Snezza as usual, but the design looks like a classic case of a client wanting too much for the size of his kitchen - IMO. I have also had my eye on that new Blanco tap for a while now as it looks great and has a really good price point ....... good match with the quooker as well The sliding doors and hidden desk is great. Top job mate. Daniel RE: Penthouse Kitchen - snezza - 04-10-2012 You're right about the size of the room Daniel, it was a bit of a squeeze!!! It tends to be a bit of a problem in an apartment. The client does a lot of work from home so the office was a must, but it has compromised the overall design and layout of the room. Personally, I would'nt have had the American Fri/Freezer, as I can't stand them. I think they should stand all on their own in a room or not at all. There is an Int. W/M and a semi int D/W, waste disposal unit, pull-out bin unit and a Boiler in the cubboards. Not a lot of storage space, but all the gadgets. Audio piped to all rooms through ceiling mounted speakers (inc both bathrooms.......!!!) The hob was a 900mm wide Flex Induction IQ700. Fantasatic bit of kit! That tap is really nice! I've got one on display in the showroom and it looks and works a treat! There's more pics on the Photobucket site, but I could only attatch max.10 to my post. Snezza. RE: Penthouse Kitchen - PJK - 04-10-2012 Looks fastastic Snezza, yet again another quality job. There's a lot of appliances in there mate, tight squeeze. The office looks good too mate. Did you order the angled units for the office and kitchen or did you make them up on site? How did you leave it with the customer regarding the hob? Did you get it in writing that it was fitted at there request? As its an induction I suppose there won't be much of a issue with burning the side panel but maybe a casserole pot. The only reason I ask is we all get asked to do these thing but I just wondered how ppl cover themselves. Anyway great looking kitchen RE: Penthouse Kitchen - snezza - 05-10-2012 (04-10-2012, 11:53 PM)PJK Wrote: Looks fastastic Snezza, yet again another quality job. Cheers PJ, the job was always going to be function over design. The practicalities of getting all the required appliances in a relatively small space was always going to compromise the design to a degree. The angled wall units in the office and the kitchen were made on site with my TS75. It got me to thinking about a TS55, as its quite a bit lighter,as you know. I knew the hob position would be an issue with you guys But, as you can see from the pictures and layout, needs must. The hob is a FLEX induction, with rectangular cooking zones and as there is no heat dissipation around the sides of any cooking pots, I was assured by Seimens that it woudnt be a problem. I think they stipulate a minimum of 50mm from the hob to a vertical combustible surface with induction. It just looks a bit "Squeezed" As I said earlier, I would have fitted the hob in the island, but there were problems with fitting an Island hood in the ceiling (Steel Beams) and as the floor was part of the structure of the building, we couldnt cut into it to fit the ducting for a downdraft. RE: Penthouse Kitchen - PREM - 05-10-2012 lovely fit, hope there was a lift to lug all that kitchen up. one thing that i hate is working on flats up and down up and down all day, did you fab the tops on site? The only thing we had to take up the stairs were the worktops. I,d already fabricated the sink section, and the island top (to a degree). The rest of the tops had all been cut down to their approx sizes, and were just trimmed up on site. The upstands had to be mitered on site, but with a sanding station coz it's so much easier than cutting solid surface material on a saw. Snezza RE: Penthouse Kitchen - PJK - 05-10-2012 Web I was a wee nipper of an apprentice we did a penthouse flat. Had to pull the tops up the side of the building on ropes.
