Latest Installation 2 - snezza - 24-10-2011

Finished this one recently. Just got round to posting the pics on my website. Some people may find it a bit "cold", but it is just what the customer wanted and I have to say that it has grown on me!

Cheers Phill, yes, the customer had 2 of them sitting on the worktops when I got there to take the photos. Its a bit awkward to ask them to remove stuff before I start snapping away!

I,m pleased with the overall finished look, especially the floor as I think it puts the finishing touch to the whole job.

Yep, looks great. What tops are they? What's the unit to the left of the sink without a handle on the d/f?

Hi PJ. Its an integrated Siemens W/M, hence no handle on the drawer front. I always ask the customer whether they want handles on the dummy fronts. She chose not to. Personally, I would have fitted them as I feel asthetically it always looks better. There is also a 450 Integrated D/W to the right of the sink base, hence no handle on the door.

The tops are laminate with the front edges in a matching 3mm APPD edge.

great job Snezza ThumbUp but why are the larder facias upside down or wrong way up? it ruined the line across the tower bank, and theres somthing going on with the tiling between the 2 windows it looks as though cuts have been placed in the run! was this to accomodate equal cuts around the windows?..

RE: Latest Installation 2 - Stretch - 25-10-2011

Gotta disagree with you there Marc.....

Who says you need to have a uniform line anymore? It's the old adage of 600 base below therefore 600 wall unit above.

Not in my book these days. I realise that some kitchens such as L shape and U shape will get this design by default and there's not much else you can do in terms of layout but with larders these days it's all about functionality. Tall door at the bottom = hoover/ironing board storage, top door = iron, hoover bags to quote just one example. And then you might have another larder in the same run that requires a different door layout.

It's all about what the customer wants and most are happy for any design as they're more excited about just having a new kitchen but I always try to push different storage ideas. I would install internal wireworks over bog standard doors any day of the week but this will always depend on the customers budget obviously.

The tall unit on this end has a demi height int.fridge in it, same height as the door. Storage above. Next to it is a 300mm pull-out larder unit.
The Germans always configure there facias to suit the appliances,
all other units have the 715 door at the bottom.

I think the tiling was done as you thought, to allow for whole tiles around the windows. I didnt do the wall tiles. They were fitted by an old tiler who was a family friend of the customer..........nuf said!
