I have used the surface mounted ones on the odd occasion. I still drill the 8mm hole from the back of the cabinet to hide the cable, and just feed the cable through underneath the shroud. I think they may be a bit cheaper as well.

Hope you get on alright with the Lustrolite, they will deliver direct to site as well, which is helpful if you order the large sheets.

Very nice kitchen Snezza ThumbUp

Just looking at the installation Instructions:
Quote:" Lustrolite panels are not suitable as a wall finish behind gas cooktops. They can be used as a splashback behind electric and induction cooktops with a minimum clearance of 50mm between rear edge of cook top and the face of the Lustrolite panel."

At least for electric and induction so that's better than not at all...ThumbUp

For obvious reasons, due to the type of material that Lustrolite is made from, its not suitable for use behind a Gas hob. But, I don't hardly ever fit Gas hobs anymore, they are nearly all Induction nowadays and I have never had any issues with any kind of heat reaction with the Lustrolite.

Lustrolite do supply a Glass panel (limited sizes though.....!) that can fit behind a Gas hob and it is supposed to be a good colour match to the Acrylic panels and is obviously the same thickness. Not a bad price either ThumbUp I have never fitted one, but I have it on good authority that it is a good match.
