They do open. Just! I like to use all available space. Here is a bad photo taken in the dark from that side...

And if you look closely down at the bottom left you can see where the chippy who installed the skirting, didn't quite get round that last little corner. Don't worry. Decorator will sort that.

Ah I see, the picture at the top was deceiving. Looks great. That decorator would have been booted out on day 1 doing work like that!
