As for the encore tops, i'm just not sure i've got the patience any more. I think i'd much rather learn how to fabiricate corian then mess around with some of these other systems. Looks like a hell of work has gone in to them, I know corian does too, but think I would enjoy tat a bit more. Good luck to those of you going.

Nice oneCheers

The wall tiles were porcelain and a bugger to work with, I shudder to think what they would have been like had they been mosaic's Confused
The client chose the tiles and I thought they were a mistake when I first saw them, but now they are on the wall I think they add texture to the look of the finished kitchen.

Any type of Solid Surface top is always a fair amount of work, some more than others. I have done quite a few sets of Encore tops now and each one becomes a little less work as you know what to expect.
I am looking forward to the Corian Course in January as I'm sure there will be lots of tips and info that will help with the process. With Corian, there is a lot more fabrication than with Encore type materials but I'm still looking forward to the challenge of it.

The majority of the appliances that we sell are Siemens and Designer Paddy knows the product inside out. Yes, they are not the cheapest brand out there but I think you do get what you pay for with them. I have a direct account which means we do our best to be competitive against the likes of t'internet, and also do our best to sell it as the complete package (as was discussed recently on another thread).

Ahh sorry mate, i didn't mean upselling in terms of brands but more built in coffee machines etc which are viewed as luxury items that are often the first thing to go when budgets get trimmed. Also with fridges and what not, Often Have no problem seeling nice ovens, micros, hobs ect, but some need convincing of the difference between a £400 integrated fridge/freezer over a £800 one

If you mean this picture.....????

No, it's not a S/Steel shelf mate.
As you can see from the "Before" pictures, there were all sorts of hidden cables and pipework that were concealed behind existing boxing on the original kitchen. I decided to re-instate some boxing after fitting the wall units, not only to hide the existing pipes/cables etc, but mainly to hide the 150mm ducting from the Blanco angled hood. I decided to make it out of MDF rather than plasterboard as this allowed me to cut ventilation holes in it above the Tall bank of units where the Ovens & Int, Fri/freezer are. I cut the vents in the boxing as low as I could, this way it keeps them below "Line of Sight". plus, the coving could then also be refitted.

The client can then just decorate it to match the rest of the room.

Snezza.

I wondered what was going on there . is it fitted like a flyover in MDF? if so wouldnt have this looked better in the gloss.

Sorry Rob, I see what you mean now.Doh

I'm not certain if it makes a big difference or not, but we do have a few "Luxury" appliances on display in the Showroom. I strongly believe that if a potential client is going to be convinced into buying such items, they do/will want to see/touch the machines, if that makes sense.
We have a working Coffee machine in one of our displays, and quite often we offer potential Clints the opportunity to Try before they Buy.
Those Int. Coffee machines are not cheap by any means, but the smell and taste of freshly ground Coffee is always a good selling point.

Just my thoughts!ThumbUp

With hindsight Steve, you may well be right, but as I said, the boxing was an afterthought really. I had to work around what was there.

The MDF is fitted from the ceiling down to the top of the wall units. The 2 plant on panels either side of the hood were fitted afterwards and just notched out around the MDF. The Cornice was cut down in front to back depth to accommodate the boxing which had to be the depth it was due to the depth of the Hood Chimney!

My apologies again for the lack of quality in the pics, but the battery was flat on my camera when I went to take the pics. I had to use my HTC Phone for the snaps, and they are disappointing.

Designer Paddy is going to arrange to go round after Xmas and take some clearer pictures once the room has been fully decorated and the Oak skirtings and Oak window cills are fitted.
