For what my opinion is worth
If you can get by on your own and gradually build up your work load it can be worth it. It will take time and a bucket load of patience.. but in the long term can be worth it.

Nice to have a secure job and pay....but your always wondering "what if".....to be honest money wise i don't think i'm much better off but i never missed my lads school football/rugby matches, could always go on last minute do's (piss-ups that left on Fridays and came back Mondays) and never had to book a holiday too much in advance.
BTW as a newbie you're expected to give us a fitting tip............

Yeah i would definately rather work for myself and build up gradually but i find it frustrating not knowing where the next jobs coming from and also, it seems when im really busy, more work gets thrown at me and sometimes have to turn work down, then a couple of weeks later im sitting in the house with nothing and wondering where the next pay is coming from, can mess with your head lol

Now your making me start to regret my decision lol i see what your saying but certainly between now and christmas, i need the steady income, might give it another go on my own next year...
Hmmm fitting tip off the top of my head... Firstly, if you dont have one already, invest in a pocket hole jig!!! I use it at every opportunity, thinks its brilliant for traditional pelmet, boiler housings and altering units...
Second tip (which i use the pocket hole jig to do) where i have an integrated dishwasher, w/m or built under fridge or freezer, i like to cut 3 rails at 600mm x 70mm from carcase material, and i fit 2 rails at the top (1 front and 1 back) and one at the very back of the space. I find it stiffens the whole structure and keeps the aperture spot on 600mm and keeps everything square (more of a personal preference than a tip)

Ill second the pocket hole jig. I screw all my boxings together with 1 and it gets tighter joints with on vosable fixing on the face

Hi Ryan - I Try not to mention Space-Plug outside my little update bit on the homepage, but you might be interested as I think we might have even shaken hands - Armando wanted Space-Plug for Wren and I came out to meet you all fitting out a shop up north somewhere can't remember which one now, think it was Ashton, but met Rob Welsh and Danny McClorry and Know I chatted to a fair few of the guys whilst I was there - if not nice to meet you anyway fella.
Met Armando a few times and Malcolm Healy (His fortune wasn't a small one guys - One point he and his brother 17th and 18th richest men in the uk) But both really nice and very keen on Space-Plug. Was a bit early then for me but still hopeful they might take us.
On the job front mate - definitely - go with your gut instinct, what makes you happy rather than it's financial impact
In the long run that's all that will make the difference. Welcome to you buddy
